ARS completed 200 interviews with businesses, 180 interviews with citizens and 1 focus group with legal representatives of large corporations, to learn about their knowledge, attitudes and experience of using alternative dispute resolution mechanisms, with particular focus on mediation and arbitration. The purpose of the research was to collect data on baseline indicators for the USAID-funded Commercial Justice Activity implemented by CHECHI Consulting. The data from the field interviews and focus groups was compiled in a Baseline Report that is used to assess businesses’ and general population perceptions towards alternative dispute resolution mechanisms, and to define the communication strategies and messaging for the public outreach campaigns.
